Your interest in volunteering with The Council for Prostitution Alternatives is greatly appreciated. We are a dynamic group working together to help individuals escape the sex trade.
Mission Statement
CPA believes that each sex industry survivor we serve is the expert on his or her needs. We take our cues from our clients. So far, they have asked us to provide hospitality, community emotional support and someone to talk to. It has been our pleasure to do so. CPA welcomes sex industry survivors of all orientations-gay, lesbian, bisexual, transvestite, transsexual and all others.
Confidentiality Statement
As a client-centered organization we work with a vulnerable and marginalized population, focusing on empowerment, strengths, and support. Our volunteers must be aware of this and agree to the following.
1.Confidentiality is mandatory; no client information shall be released or discussed outside of CPA without direct client consent.
2.Our clients are self-determining; volunteers will support our clients right to self-determination and support them in the right to choose an individual treatment plan.
3.Absolutely no discrimination will be tolerated.
4.Compassion and empathy is to be extended to those we serve along with our fellow volunteers, regardless of differences in beliefs, lifestyle choices, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
Please contact Anastasia, our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@prostitutionalternatives.org for questions about this application. Once we receive your application it will be reviewed and current interns, volunteers, and board members will determine where, and if, you will fit into the CPA organization. We would love to accept everyone who wishes to volunteer, but we must be sure that each individual we bring into the organization is going to be beneficial to those that we serve. Therefore we maintain the right to remove a volunteer if they are in any way jeopardizing he safety and/or the emotional well being of our clients. We appreciate your understanding.
Volunteering for CPA can be trying and self-care is very important. There will be monthly volunteer meetings where we will check progress on projects, brainstorm, troubleshoot and check on each other. Before beginning to volunteer it is mandatory that each to-be volunteer attends a training meeting, which are usually about two hours on Friday evening. We will accommodate each individuals schedule to the best of our abilities. Please note that Friday evenings are often the evening of choice for meetings and trainings.
